Fair enough, I have not served, though I have talked to friends who have and are familiar with the organizational capacity of the military.

My impresion is, the military has some checks and balances in place that prevented immediate and total collapse under Trump- however, yes, I do suspect that over the longer run that they could be turned by Trumpian government. When I say the right wing hasn't made in-raods, I mean, the modern right wing under Trump, not more classical repubicans.

That said, even just the fact they resisted turning Trump into a dictator is something they should be given credit for even if it's unlikely to happen again.
