I don’t know the ins and outs of the specific deal with Disney — but it seems as if it wasn’t debated on those terms, and that the current form of cutting the tax break is rushed and likely to be costly to taxpayers.

I don’t really think this is a “ends justify the means” situation, because it hasn’t created any framework for bringing other corporations with illegitimate tax breaks to justice; it’s really just “do what the republicans want, get a sweet deal, don’t do what they want and get penalized.”

If this had been part of a referendum of tightening corporate tax loopholes I’d be all for it. But, as it is, I believe it to be a form of political coercion on Disney, as well as a message intended for other non-Republican corporations in the state.
