Thanks! Yeah, I agree the “bootstrap mythos” is deeply problematic, in ways that I’d like to explore more.

The things I’m wondering, is who does this mythos benefit? Whose power is being maintained, who is making money, who is maintaining social status? And, what are the mechanisms that we use convince people to buy into it?
